Welcome to my website and blog
For those who have stumbled across this page by chance, here is a little more about myself.
I was born in Cavite City, Philippines to a Filipino mother and an English father who met in Hong Kong. I immigrated to England and spent my childhood with my younger sister, in the town of Cheltenham. From an early age, my competitive nature was evident as I participated in a variety of sports. These were mainly Swimming, Gymnastics and Karate. As a teenager, I started playing Hockey, later making the County team.
In 2009, I completed an English and History BA Joint Honors Degree at the University of the West of England, Bristol. In my first year of study, I was attacked while working as a charity fundraiser. This incident and a string of disempowering events, prompted me to start Boxing. My confidence grew and this weekly class, quickly developed into a daily discipline of mixed martial arts training (MMA).
I went onto achieve a Postgraduate Certificate at the University of Gloucestershire and began working at an Independent charity. During this time, I explored different styles; Muay Thai, MMA, BJJ, Wrestling, Arnis and Capoeira. I found an affinity with Muay Thai and I resolved to go to Thailand with the aim of fighting there.
I left the UK in 2011 and began a journey across the globe, which lead me to win fights in Bangkok and Phuket. I then returned to my motherland, the Philippines to study the National Sport of Arnis and the Filipino martial art Yaw-Yan Fervilleon. Since then, I have continued to travel, cross-train and fight across the world.
I launched my professional career as a Mixed Martial Artist in Australia and currently fight for One Championship in their Atomweight division. I’m a student at Langes MMA, also Hulk MMA & Fitness in Sydney. Simultaneously working out of both gyms as a personal trainer and martial arts coach. This is alongside a full-time job in Accounts for a family run, ethical business.
In my downtime, I can be found outdoors enjoying the beautiful Northern Beaches, or buried in a book. I have recently started writing about my journey in this blog Long Road.
